Support and Location
The Kunsthaus Baselland is run by the association 'Kunstverein Baselland' counting 600 members and is supported by the ministery of education and culture of the district Baselland 'Kulturelles'. In the year 1997, the association bought a location in the industrial district just on the border between the city of Basel and the district Baselland. The Kunsthaus Baselland as it presents itself today was opened in 1997 and offers a splendid exhibition space of 1800m2. Situated next to the new football-stadion of the architects Herzog & de Meuron, the Kunsthaus Baselland is comfortably accessible within few minutes from the public transport (tramway no. 14 to the station 'Schänzli', just 9 minutes from the station 'Aeschenplatz').
The Art Association Baselland
Since its foundation in 1944, the association 'Kunstverein Baselland' is dedicated to organising and hosting exhibitions and, therefore, to the promoting of the fine arts and its understanding. The association consists of 600 members.
